Ruth Allen

Ruth Allen graduated in 1997 with a degree in Textiles and Illustration. She is currently based in Stafford where she works from her home studio.

Her work concentrates on interiors and architecture. Ruth's main inspiration for both her subject matter and techniques comes from the 1950s, with a focus on the work of Lucienne and Robin Day and the homes & interiors of the decade.

Ruth's illustrations are created on canvas, using blocks of colour. A delicate black line is then drawn over the top to illustrate and capture the beautiful buildings and interiors.

Ruth has also recently developed a new style using printing and collage techniques. With a focus on the interiors from the 1950s, this new work is incorporates fabrics and text and is produced on paper.
