Alison Vickery
Alison Vickery studied graphic design and illustration in London in the early 80’s and subsequently designed for a number of companies including John Lewis, Waitrose, The National Trust and Tesco. In 2008 she moved to the Cotswolds with her family and has focused on her painting inspired by her garden, the beautiful countryside surrounding us and the character of Stroud.
Alison is particularly interested in colour and how it is affected by light, working intuitively she aims to capture the character and essence of her subject. She works in a wide range of media including acrylic inks, watercolour, collage and mixed media.
Alison’s work sells through various galleries and exhibitions and is in private collections around the World. She is particularly well known for her floral paintings which are popular as far a field as New Zealand. Her work is alos widely reproduced and sells Worldwide as stationery, textiles and giftware.
Alison passes on her knowledge and creativity to others running classes for adults and children at Pegasus Art, Stroud and Under the Edge Arts, Wotton under Edge and some day workshops. She also runs the occasional painting and drawing courses for Maggies Cancer Centre, Cheltenham, particularly satisfying work for such a wonderful centre.
